Event Sales KPI Guide

A practical guide to the numbers every event sales team should understand. Use it to create a consistent measurement framework across every show, activation and member of staff.

How it helps

  • Track approaches, conversations and sales
  • Measure conversion rate and average order value
  • Compare revenue per hour and per salesperson
  • Coach the right part of the sales funnel
How to use it: Agree the KPIs before the event, capture them at regular intervals and review them at the end of each day. Focus coaching on the stage with the biggest drop-off rather than only looking at total revenue.

Ask Hello Consumer
Are the Hello Consumer event sales tools free?+

Yes. The calculators and guides on this page are free to use. They are designed to help brands make better decisions before, during and after consumer events, retail activations and exhibitions.

Which calculator should I use before booking an event?+

Start with the Event Success Calculator. It brings sales, product margin, VAT treatment, staffing, stock and fixed costs together to calculate break-even, profit and ROI. Once the event looks viable, use the Hourly Sales Goal Calculator to build the delivery plan.

Do I need exact figures to use the calculators?+

No. Use the best information available and choose conservative assumptions when you do not have previous event data. The value comes from testing scenarios and seeing which inputs have the biggest impact on the result.

Can I use the tools on a mobile phone?+

Yes. The calculators and this resource page are designed to work on desktop, tablet and mobile, so the team can refer to targets and KPIs while at the event.

What event sales KPIs should we track?+

At minimum, track approaches, meaningful conversations, buying opportunities, transactions, units sold, revenue, conversion rate and average order value. For stronger analysis, also track performance by hour and by salesperson.

Can Hello Consumer review my numbers?+

Yes. Send us the event details and your forecast. We can review the commercial opportunity, staffing requirements, targets, logistics and sales plan. We will also tell you honestly when we do not believe an event is the right fit.
